Quicklets and Zanzi Homes have sent a team to Ghana on a business and philanthropic trip.

The team provided internet connection to a community and a new library of textbooks to a school. CEO Steve Mercieca, COO Fabio Zuccaro and marketing executive Marc Schembri have come back telling stories about their ventures.

The first presentation took place at the Ayikai Doblo M/A 2 Basic School, in which internet was installed to help promote ICT lectures, in sync with a recent curriculum launched by the Ghanaian government, as well as extending an internet hotspot for the local community. Textbooks were also given to the adjacent school on subjects like technical skills, integrated science, mathematics, social studies, English language and grammar and ICT.

“We decided to connect Wi-Fi to a school as members of the community can also benefit from it,” said Mr Schembri.

“It is so rewarding to be able to make a positive difference here. Our ‘dream, believe, achieve’ motto is what has driven our agents to rent and sell successfully, and this also helped us fund our trip to Ghana. My message to our Ghanaian friends is to live by the same motto.”

Mr Mercieca said the QLZH group focused on the concept of giving back to society. “Now we have been able to make a difference abroad. We’re setting a foothold in Africa since one of our end goals is to provide a home for each house we sell. Right now, back in Malta, with each property we are selling through Zanzi Homes, we are planting a tree; we’re seeking to offer household necessities as a next step and in the future our aim is to provide accommodation from scratch for the homeless.”

Mr Zuccaro said: “Purpose is at the core of our business values and I believe this has contributed to the success of our company as it attracts like-minded and like-hearted people.  We’re thrilled to explore further possibilities in fulfilling our philanthropic mission in Ghana and possibly other countries. We would love to add more smiles on people’s faces, especially the younger ones.”
